About Me

I grew up in Ohio and since graduating from high school I've lived in North Carolina, Tennessee, New York, Texas, Illinois, Michigan and Kansas before settling here in California.  I earned a B.A. in Journalism from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001 and went on to do sales and marketing for several minor league hockey teams.  I returned to school in 2005, taking math classes at University of Dayton and Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago before starting graduate school at Michigan State University, where I earned my Ph.D. in Mathematics with a focus in Topology in 2013.  I love running, hiking, swimming, biking, yoga, knitting, sewing and reading.
