The De Anza College Office of Communications is launching a new video tour that's both a visual guide to the campus and a compelling way of showing some of the college's best features to prospective students.

De Anza College has earned a top ranking among two-year schools with the best graduation rates, according to federal data compiled by the Chronicle of Higher Education.

A De Anza student has won a $2,000 scholarship from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Jia Yi Lim was recognized for her work as director, editor, videographer and producer on several films made with fellow students.

Retired President Brian Murphy is the subject of a new profile in the magazine Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. It says he "set a national standard not only for educational excellence, but also for a comprehensive commitment to social justice."

Yaneth Gutierrez, a 2018 graduate of De Anza, wrote the following first-person article about her experience graduating with her daughter, Eunice Romero, who was also a De Anza student.

President Brian Murphy has appointed Rob Mieso as vice president of Student Services, following a national search. "He is a person of deep commitment and extraordinary competence," Murphy said.

An acclaimed San Jose artist and several De Anza students have begun work on a special outdoor mural that will commemorate the college's 50th Anniversary, marking the end of a yearlong celebration.

Roxana Castellón found what she was looking for at De Anza. She's a student in Design and Manufacturing Technologies, working toward a certificate as a CNC Research and Development Machinist.

Christina Espinosa-Pieb will serve as interim president starting July 1 when President Brian Murphy retires. The selection was announced Tuesday by Chancellor Judy Miner.
