Queer and Now is the annual LGBTQ+ conference at De Anza College that focuses on the larger and local LGBTQ+ community, student success, equity, intersectionality and social justice concerns.

This year, the 11th annual Queer and Now conference will focus on the theme, "Navigating the Political Climate and Building Queer Community."

About the Speaker

Mariah MooreMariah Moore is a nationally recognized, award-winning organizer and activist dedicated to advancing equity, equality and safety for the transgender community. Hailing from New Orleans, she serves as the director of policy and programs at the Transgender Law Center and is the co-founder of House of Tulip, a vital resource hub providing housing and support for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals in New Orleans.

In 2021, Mariah made history as the first transgender woman to run for the New Orleans City Council, further cementing her commitment to transformative change. Her groundbreaking work has been featured in major publications such as Vogue, Essence, The Guardian, The New York Times, Huffington Post, Washington Blade and numerous other national and local media outlets. Through tireless advocacy, Mariah continues to shape policies and initiatives that uplift and protect marginalized communities.
