Course Description

This introduction to historical and contemporary Filipinx American experiences will survey social, political, and cultural influences through a framework of decolonization. Emphasis will be placed on the role of cultural expression in movements seeking social justice for Filipinx American communities.

ASAM 30.01A: Open to all students who meet normal course prerequisites, have been accepted by formal application to the Study Abroad Philippines program and have paid a program fee of ~$2,200 (which may include Financial Aid) plus airfare. All classes require permission of the instructor, Ms. Mae Lee, leemae@fhda.edu. Majority of course work takes place in the Philippines Islands.
