A Sense of Belonging

A Sense of Belonging explores what makes people feel connected to themselves, each other and their community. Artwork and photography include self, family, and neighborhood portraits, ceramic sculptures honoring cultural roots, and posters and zines about belonging in the Bay Area.

Artists include: Victoria Almeida, Marie Cameron, Saikat Choudhury, Mark Engel, Susan Harding, Gurmeet Lamba, Josie Lepe, Gustavo Martinez, Siana Smith, and Christine Wong Yap.

Special projects from the Othering and Belonging Institute at UC Berkeley and Mellon Scholar museum intern Fatima Artan.

Museum Hours

  • Tuesday-Thursday: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Open on Saturday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (during De Anza Flea Market)
  • First Thursday (spoken word and open mic): Feb. 5 and March 5, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Open to tour groups by appointment.
