GE Certifications

When you have been as a transfer student by a California State University or University of California campus, the university will typically require a General Education (GE) certification. Please see below for the types of GE certifications and instructions to submit a request.

IGETC UC​

GE pattern used by transfer students to satisfy GE requirements for UC transfer.

IGETC CSU​

Alternative GE pattern used by transfer students to satisfy GE requirements for CSU transfer.

CSU GE Breadth​

GE pattern used by transfer students to satisfy GE requirements for CSU transfer.


Request a GE Certification

Review your DegreeWorks Audit

Step 1: Visit DegreeWorks.

Step 2: Click the "What If" tab on the left hand side.

Step 3: Change the search parameters:

Level: De Anza Undergraduate

Degree: Transfer General Education DA

Major: DA IGETC-UC or DA IGETC-CSU or CSU GE/Breadth

Step 4: Click "Process What-If" above the search parameters.

After running this audit, you will be able to verify your progress on the specific GE pattern.

Fill out the GE Certification Request Form

Complete the GE Certification form. Please be sure to list the correct mailing address for the school that you wish for this to be sent to.

IGETC UC

The UC IGETC has a foreign language requirement. If you are intending on using two years of foreign language from high school, please be sure that your high school transcripts are on file.

Not ensuring this may result in a submitting of a partial IGETC.

Submit the Completed GE Certification Form to Evaluations

You must email the form as a PDF file to evaluationsda@deanza.edu from the primary email address that's listed in your student records. (You can find this listed under "My Profile" in the Student Registration app in MyPortal.)

We cannot process requests submitted from anyone else.

Important Information

General education certification requests must be submitted by the student from the email on file. Any request received by an email address other than the one on file will be ignored.
