Here are some organizations that are providing humanitarian aid to people in Ukraine and to those who have been forced to flee that country.

Four members of the De Anza community will be honored this week with Excellence Awards from the national League for Innovation in the Community College. The recipients were selected in recognition of their outstanding service to the students of De Anza College.

Bestselling author Reyna Grande will discuss her work and her experiences as an immigrant and first-generation college student during a special Feb. 17 appearance, hosted online by De Anza College as part of this year's Silicon Valley Reads campaign.

Students who need to log in to Zoom for a class while they're on campus can now find designated spaces with power and Wi-Fi in several locations. They're part of an effort to make things a little easier for students who are taking a mix of online and on-campus classes.

Instructional designer Heidi King was named this year's "De Anza College Educator of the Year" by the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce, which presents annual STAR awards to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the community.

De Anza has begun a collegewide strategic planning process that will provide a road map for the next five years. The process will culminate in a new Educational Master Plan that sets goals in line with De Anza's Vision, Mission and Values.

De Anza has been selected by the Aspen Institute to enter a $1 million prize competition for high achievement and performance by community colleges nationwide.

De Anza College President Lloyd Holmes has joined the board of directors for West Valley Community Services, a leading nonprofit that's a key supporter of De Anza's Food Pantry and also assists low-income residents of surrounding communities.

De Anza's new Bookstore partner has officially launched its online store, along with a new textbook adoption tool that is now available to faculty members who wish to begin ordering course materials for winter quarter.

De Anza has won a $2.25 million grant to help coordinate delivery of many student services through the new Guided Pathways Villages, expand the current Learning Communities and create a new Ethnic and Pride Inclusion Center for historically underserved students, including LGBTQ+ students.
